The engineering program at the Somali National University was establish in 1974, it has four department Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Architectural Engineering. Since that time, the faculty has continuous growth in undergraduate as well as steady increases in research and outreach activities. However, after the government collapse during civil wars 1990 the faculty was close. Fortunately, Somali National University re-opened 2014; two years later faculty of engineering was re-start, and the first batch-enrolled year 2016. Now the year of 2024 faculty of engineering has eight batches, 821 students and 42 lecturers.
